For 44 years, Thanksgiving morning at Beaver Meadow has brought friends, families and generations of golfers together, in snow, rain or shine. Whether you play every year or haven’t teed it up in a while, there’s a spot for you on the first tee.
This year, the Standish carries extra meaning. Our home course is getting a new clubhouse, and the players of this tournament have always helped look after the Beav. Every dollar you add to your entry goes to The Friends of the Beav. Last year, our players raised $1,900. Let’s make 2026 our best year yet.
In November 2025, I wrote to you about the exciting news that the City of Concord had finally approved a plan to build a new clubhouse at Beaver Meadow Golf Course. As you can see in the photo above, that long-held dream is coming to life, and the new clubhouse is nearing completion.
As the home of the Myles Standish Invitational Golf Tournament, our tournament committee felt it was in the best interest of The Standish to support this project. We decided to redirect our fundraising to a new non-profit, The Friends of the Beav, which recently came together to support the clubhouse project and other activities at Beaver Meadow. The organization has committed to the City of Concord that it will raise and donate $250,000 over 10 years to support Beaver Meadow.
As I mentioned last year, the approved budget for the clubhouse project made no provision for a sound/PA system in the building. We consider such a system essential for the many functions that take place in and around the facility, so The Standish decided to step up and help raise funds for it. I am proud to say that in 2025, Standish players contributed $1,900 to the Friends of the Beav through $5, $10 and $50 donations.
Standish players have always stepped up to support worthy causes, and I hope you will consider sending a donation for this one along with your entry fee.
I look forward to seeing you all on November 26, 2026, for the 44th edition of the Myles Standish Invitational Golf Tournament.
"SNOW, RAIN OR SHINE!"
Roger Jobin, November 2026
The 2025 Concord golf calendar came to a close on Thanksgiving morning when 73 hardy players began their rounds following Greg Morgan's shotgun blast to begin the 43rd Annual Myles Standish Invitational Golf Tournament. The weather was favorable for late season play with light breezes, bright sunny skies and temps near 40 degrees.
As team after team filed into the old Beaver Meadow clubhouse following their rounds, it looked like there would be a 3-team playoff at 7-under par 29. The committee members were busy checking scorecards to determine the tie breaker when the team of Jackson Bouley, Jim Bouley, Carroll Blake, Jennifer Kretovic and Mark Coen showed up at the scorer's table with the winning score of 8-under par 28. After Kretovic sunk a tricky eagle putt on the first hole, the team went on to birdie 6 of the next 8 holes to earn their victory. The victory was the second Standish win for Mark Coen while both Bouleys, Blake and Kretovic all made their first trip to the winners' circle. Blake commented it was nice to win one after a couple of years of taking home the cranberry sauce for finishing last.
Finishing second, at 7-under par, was the team of Beno Shell, Paul Barbadoro, Ellese Jobin Shell, John Barbadoro, Irwin Belitsky and Lieba Shell. Third place went to the team of Steve Caccia, Roger Cawley, Mason Caccia, Scott Estle and Jason Moody. Finishing 4th, also at 7-under par, was the team of Mark Bozek, Doug Ricard, Bob Oziomek, Mike Ricard and Chris Smith. The team of Ed Nadeau, Mark Nadeau, Pat Baker, John Nadeau and Tyler Baker enjoyed cranberry sauce for finishing at even par 36.
Quinn Hogan won the closest-to-the-pin contest on the 3rd hole when he hit his 7-iron to within 9 feet of the flag. Matt Flanders won the closest-to-the-pin contest on the 6th hole with a dart to within 3 feet 6 inches of the pin. In the longest drive contest, Mason Caccia provided the fireworks with a blast of 294 yards on hole number 7.
Congratulations to Jennifer Kretovic for becoming the first female winner of the Myles Standish Tournament. Jennifer Fletcher and Bob Whatmough were the recipients of the John Alden Award given annually to the highest finishing rookie or rookies. Congratulations also go to Fletcher for becoming the first female Alden Award winner. The Myles Standish Tournament players raised and donated $1,900 to The Friends of the Beav organization.

Congratulations to the winners of the 43rd Myles Standish. The team of Carroll Blake, Jackson Bouley, Jim Bouley, Mark Coen and Jennifer Kretovic finished with a winning score of 8 under par 28 on Beaver Meadow's front nine. This was the second Standish victory for Coen, while Blake, both Bouleys, and Kretovic all earned their first victory.
Finishing second, at 7 under 29, was the team of Beno Shell, Paul Barbadoro, Ellese Jobin Shell, John Barbadoro, Lieba Shell and Irwin Belitsky. Third place went to Steve Caccia, Roger Cawley, Mason Caccia, Scott Estle and Jason Moody. Finishing 4th, also at 7 under par, was the team of Mark Bozek, Doug Ricard, Bob Oziomek, Mike Ricard and Chris Smith.
Jennifer Fletcher and Robert Whatmough won the John Alden Award given annually to the highest finishing rookie or rookies.
As I report every year, the scoring record on Beaver Meadow's front nine is shared by two special teams. In 1999, the team of Andy Vachon, Jack Ross, Mark Coen, Scott Ross, Mike Robichaud and Lou Hart set the original scoring record of 10-under par. The record stood alone until it was tied in the 25th Standish in 2007. That year Dick Lank, Tom Bell, Brian Hamilton, Rolly Soucy, Charlie Saggiotes and Pat Baker took advantage of every good scoring opportunity and tied the record. That is a great record!
Leo Hannula of Elgin, Illinois holds the record for oldest competitor at 92 years, 3 months and 17 days old while playing in the 24th Myles Standish. Gavin Richardson currently holds the record of being the youngest competitor to date when he played at 11 years, 3 months and 17 days old in the 35th Standish.
As always, we can probably accommodate a Thanksgiving houseguest or two as players if it will help out at home. Please let us know as soon as possible if this situation arises. Also, please feel free to bring children (7 & up) to get out of the house to get some fresh air and caddy if they would like to come. Please be sure they dress warmly to be able to handle a couple of hours out in the cold.
We are very fortunate to be able to play the Myles Standish at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, New Hampshire's oldest golf course. Please show your respect by carrying out every bit of trash you carry in and by staying away from roped off areas. Additionally, if you see someone else's trash, make an effort to pick that up as well.
Great thanks go out to Course Manager and Superintendent Pat Lanman as well as PGA Golf Professional Josh LaCasse for their help and coordination in setting up our event.
Thanks also to Keith & Emily Duclos, the proprietors of Beaver Meadow's restaurant, The Broken Tee, for opening up their facility on a holiday to provide us with coffee, a continental breakfast and a warm room beginning at 7:00 AM. Please be sure to thank them for their hospitality!
Pre-registration helps greatly with the backlog on tournament morning, and the entry fees help with front-end purchases of prizes. You may pay your entry fee by check or by Venmo. My Venmo address is @roger-jobin. If you pay by Venmo, you will still need to mail or email a copy of your entry form to me.
I urge you to consider sending a few extra dollars along with your entry fee to support the Friends of the Beav and the exciting Beaver Meadow clubhouse project. In 2025, the Standish players sent $1,900 to support the mission of The Friends of the Beav. Hopefully, with the new clubhouse nearing completion, we can match that amount or better in 2026!
The annual Myles Standish Class Photo will take place at 8:30 AM and the shotgun start will follow at 8:40 AM. Please be prompt!
The Standish Tournament Committee will meet on Tuesday evening, November 24th, to set up the teams. Please be sure to RSVP before that date.

My, my … How times have changed. The entry fee was $10 and I even spelled Myles’ name wrong on the invitation …
I take many photos at the Myles Standish, but some photos have more meaning to me than others. The photo above includes some special people and it was taken at a very happy moment. My son Trent had just sunk a long Eagle putt on the second hole and that helped propel the team into the winner’s circle in 2006.
The photo includes my long-time friend Mike Cole, my friend Jim Kinhan, a former Francis Ouimet Scholar, a tireless advocate for Beaver Meadow, and a NH golf giant for his many years of work on the McDonough Golf Scholarship Board. My son Trent is in the middle standing next to my cousin, Sonny Sharp, and Sonny’s son, Ryan Sharp. In the grand tradition of Standish family photos, I note that Kinhan was Sonny’s father-in-law and Ryan’s Grandfather.
A little history … Ryan grew up playing golf at Beaver Meadow and starred on the Concord High School golf team. While winning the 2006 Myles Standish was an impressive accomplishment, his resume now also includes the title of Head Golf Professional at Augusta National Golf Club. Not bad for a kid from Concord, NH. I’m deeply sad, however, to say that Ryan’s Dad Sonny passed away this year. His passing was an unexpected shock and obviously he will be sorely missed by many of us.
Happy days … Sad days … A Time to Remember
Pre-registration is greatly appreciated! Send Roger a copy of your completed entry form along with payment.
